Thankz dude.My both downstream n upstream is 256 Kbps!wat is' SNR Margin n Line Attenuation ' ??

SNR (Signal-to-Noise Ratio) margin is a measure of a communications system's immunity to noise. SNR margin is expressed in dB and represents the level of additional noise that the system can tolerate before violating the required bit error rate (BER) of the system. For example, an SNR margin of 3 dB means that if the noise level were increased by 3 dB, the system would be subject to excessive errors. In other words, SNR margin is a measure of how much additional noise a system can tolerate or how far the system is from not working properly. Attenuation is defined as the reduction of signal strength during transmission across the cable. Attenuation, measured in dB, increases with increased frequency and distance. If the signal attenuates too much, it becomes unintelligible, and will result in network errors.=====================================================SNR Margin - This is a measure (in dB) of how good your data signal is. Higher numbers are better. If this number drops below 6, you'll start to have sync problems.Attenuation - Measures (in dB) how much signal loss there is on the line - this should be a low number and in any case should be no more than around 60-65 dB.

My snr is 12 for both up n downnLine Attenuation is 41 for down and 25 for up.is that good??? :huh:

SNR - 31 down, 27 upAtt - 18 down, 9 upseems either ur line quality is poor or u're far from the exchange or may be both...and the answer to ur question, that's not good -_-

Mine is :SNR Margin31 - dB Downstream25 - dB UpstreamLine Attenuation22 - dB DS 12 - dB USData Rate288 - DS256 - US& iam quite far from the exchage...3-4 Kms...i suppose

that's normal for u...i'm around 500 meters...road wise...i'm sure the wires will be much longer...and the data rate here also are 288 down, and 256 up...seems they've set it from their servers...

k... can we have more on snr n attenuation?... when is it better for us?... wen the values r high or low?... mine is 23 down 16 up for snr & 18/9 for attenuation?...

cool buddy i m not able to pm u g\frm this board i reaaly need those system commands to schedule ur downloads. can i make my pc wake at a time .. i hv this soft auto shutdown it allows me to start my pc at a particular time.. bu wish to try if windows cn do this on its own.. cn u mail me at [email protected]....
