If it's of any help, I have begun to experience this same problem recently (ever since Airtel started throttling me). I have a ZyXEL P-660 HW1 Wireless-Router-cum-ADSL-modem and the DSL line is dropped quite often while I'm browsing.Customer support doesn't help at all. Once the line comes back they consider the problem 'closed'.
