kolkata : reliance thunder 599 ( 1 mbps ) vs tata docomo limitless 1 mbps

Well can anyone explain to me how exactly upload speed works?

Because it is showing 190 kbps upload speed.

Now even if it is really 60 kbps, should it take 3 hours to upload a 388 mb file on Dropbox?

ok I was confusing Kbps with KB/s

another site test shows this upload speed:

108 Kbps 14 kB/s

That is pretty low for a 1200 monthly package.

You are confusing it between bits and Bytes. That speed is 190 kbits/s = 24 KBytes/s of transfer rates for upload. Which equates nearly 40 seconds to upload 1 MB or roughly 90-100 MB for an hour. Hence it took almost 3+ hours.

190 kbps = 24 KBps upload speed
assuming 25KBps we get 1MB upload in 40 sec .
That means 1.5MB upload in 1min
90MB upload in 1 hour
270MB upload in 3 hour.
So yes it will take more than 3 hours for you to upload 388 MB file to Dropbox .

Thanks guys, as I mentioned I was confusing Kbps with Kb/s. That is pretty damn slow, what are your ISPs upload speeds?

6999 per annum . Your ISP plan is way more costly in comparison

Wow that is some really nice upload speed.

Yes but I do not have an option here in Kolkata. Either I go with this or BSNL, which I am not sure when I will get.

No other internet providers are allowed in my complex and we do not have other providers like Honesty here in Kolkata.

Vodaphone 3G is giving me a limit of 11.5 GB for 1500 and the upload speed is a bit better than Wishnet but still very slow.

I am almost at the suburbs of kolkata, not sure that they can cover till here. I contacted alliance before they never called back.

Moreover the complex guys are not going to allow any other broadband setup inside the complex, at least for next 4 years till construction work is over and they hand over to the community. They are using wishnet, so they only allow it, inside the complex.
