LibreOffice

But then what abt this line in their update?

Also announced were plans to port LibreOffice to Android and iOS by late 2012/early 2013 – complete with a new mobile-friendly interface.

its pretty weird that i haven't had to install MS office or any of its clone in my 3 years of BCA and 1st year of MCA . Word Viewer is the only thing MS Office related on any of my PCs .

^ It really depends. Not everyone requires the Office suite. Those who do, would swear by it. I can't imagine not having Word or Powerpoint or Excel at work to do some of the stuff I do. The latter two in particular are simply outstanding products.

i have tried hard to switch to libreoffice and google docs for writing the shitty blog posts i write on a daily basis. but in the end, i come back to microsoft word. only because i do have a legal license of office 2010. if i hadn't, i would do just fine with libreoffice. i actually was on ubuntu full time for a period of 6-7 months and during that time all i used was openoffice :D if i manage to get my hands on a legal copy of next office, i would probably continue to use microsoft word. but i can do just fine with google docs on my personal computer and libreoffice generally.

Home - Any decent Office suite is sufficient, I use LibreOffice in my laptop. Rather I "have" LibreOffice. Dont use much, so whatever little use I have, it suffices.Office - MS-Office & based on whatever little bit I have used LibreOffice at home, I would say I would be finding a few difficulties if I have to use at office.

i hate to state the obvious. i have it installed on my machine but i do not like using it. i would probably if they massively overhaul the user interface. office 15 is looking pretty awesome. i would probably purchase it (or at least ms word 15). personally i like using google docs over libreoffice just because of the user interface.

Yup. The GUI looks 15 years old on the lines of office 95/98.they need a massive overhaul of user interface on par with the likes of ubuntu

If you just open and save doc and xls files then its okay, otherwise it's really going to drive you nuts.I am also thinking about purchasing MS Office for two computers :(
