Why ?

Are they retaining this same Raju ?

So nothing much has changed for us then, just maybe slightly less encumbered congress in the centre.
Both Dayanidhi Maran and Raju, ex-ministers have won. One of them is sure to get the same ministry.

----------

How come NDA is still getting more votes in our forum poll even after the outcome is known?

----------

The latest buzz is DMK wants ministerial berths for Dayanidhi Maran, Azhagiri (MK's son) and Kanimozhi (MK's daughter) MK is M Karunanidhi, the CM of Tamilnadu and head of DMK party.
So Maran may be back as IT minister.

Hah, now you are talking

Gujarat is unique, you cannot say just because you did it there it can be repeated everywhere.

But you have work to do in Bihar, can the BJP turn that state around ?

If so then your case becomes better :)

I was always of that view, I have never supported Right wing Hindutva at anytime.

In bihar its only a matter of time before Nitish leaves the NDA, it will probably be closer to the next assembly election. Nitish kumar will probably do exactly was Naveen Patniak did in Orissa.

Advani should resign from the Gandhinagr seat and retire from Politics.. Its high time that BJP should get some young people.. (Not like Varun Gandhi)

I hear patnaik fell out over seat sharing rather than what happened in Kandamal. The reason offered is the split happened just before the election rather than soon after the Kandamahal riots. He was quite coy during interviews, the tv chans almost forcing him to say what you did. Lots of leading questions, you must have done this because etc...

I guess we will have to be more patient over the next few days for a more definitive explanation of why Congress surged ahead whilst the BJP stayed more or less static, the drop is very small. I'm tempted to think many that would have voted left went with Congress anyway, but there is still the question of 20 million odd votes in addition.

Did the electorate feel like giving MMS a second chance sans left

If they dont deliver this time i think they will lose the next one, so that means there is a strong incentive to do just that.

So Maran may be back as IT minister.

He was much better than Raju, so is there still any reason to be bleak ?

Hindutva has not failed per se or the losses would have been higher. I think its case of hindutva having exhausted itsef, given there is no increase in votes using this path.

BJP has lost about 15-20 seats in all.BJP has lost about 15-20 seats in rajasthan.that means that overall BJP might have gained/lost seats at places. but in 2008/09 they have lost both in state & general elections in rajasthan.about the gain of congress:left parties have lost a lot. they had a toll of about 55 seats in 2004 election. now they are at about 25.secondly, in AP, congress has made a huge gain taking away seats of the regional parties.thirdly, in UP congress got 20 seats (results+leads) which is like the highest for the past 20 years.major losers: left, mayawati & other third front leaders... this is the only silver lining in the dark cloud :yahoo:forgot to mention: the loss of BJP in rajasthan is also the gain of congress. so we have the toll from where the 60 seats that congress gained have come...

I always had feeling that Congress wud have higher seats than BJP. But so much margin was unexpected. Looks like thats the end of Advani.Previous election was end of Vajpayee, this end of Advani. So overall 2 strong leaders of BJP go in just 5 years. And except Narendra Modi there doesnt seem to be any1 who can carry party ahead. But I still dont know if Modi can handle BJP all over India.

yeap. advani would be a fool to try again next time. five years is a long time. modi seems to be the only hope for bjp now. and if he can continue performing well, bjp just might have a chance after five years.

As I said, Advani seems to have given up. One and only chance is gone.Rahul Gandhi is not talented. I hope congress doesnt take step to make him a PM in haste.

rahul does not look like the option for this term. singh was named their PM candidate pretty clearly. next elections would be awesome. modi vs. rahul gandhi. that would probably give indian voters something to think about. i simply cannot believe congress has won so many seats this time around. even in gurgaon, congress retained the seat! despite the massive mess we have. it's shockingly unbelievable.

yep, i did think that congress wud stay in power but not so easily. sometimes it gets me in to somekind of major suspicion.even exit poll proved to be so so so so wrong!
