Micromax MMX 400R MiFi Router Review and INSTALLATION .

Can anybody tell me, how much maximum memory size of microSD that can be accepted by this device? I plan to add 64GB - but nowhere in the site it says what is the limit.

So far my impression with the device is great! some facts
1. The memory can be made as a cloud storage - both via USB or WIFI (somewhere earlier in this forum I saw that you can access memory only through USB - that is NOT correct. There is an option via Admin control where you can swtich that). Strange thing however, is there is NO dual option - Memory is only USB available OR WIFI. But I am struggling to find out what is the limit?
2. I get complete 7.2 mbps connection. So no qualms about the speed.
3. There is no "N" band - however, this is a MIFI router to get you an internet connection - not designed to share data between devices. Hence, there is a maximum cap of 58 Mbps (maximum supported by "G" specifications) if you are transferring data between WIFI connected devices.
4. People are complaining about switching off from the "button". There is yet another way from brower. Go to Admin page and there is a "Switch Off" button. So you can remote switch off even though the device is not physically next to you. You do have to manually Switch on though!
5. Does get "Warm" during operation - make sure that slots for ventilation are clear - if you notice the slots - one is partially blocked another one if completely open. I guess this is done to make sure there is an air pressure differential to allow movement of air.
6. No SMS facility is a great disadvantage. If Micromax people are intelligent enough, they can just roll out a firmware which supports this. Otherwise this is a great product with the price option that we have - just Rs 2100

Hi,
You Have mentioned in the Point#1, as you have made the SD card as a cloud storage. Could you please guide me how you have done that, since even I have changed the Settings from USB Share to Web Share in the admin Page, I don't know where to access the SD Card files. If possibe send me the details to my mail ID [email protected]
Thanks.

Hi,
You have mentioned in the Point#1, that you have made the SD card as Cloud Storage. Could you please guide me how you have done that since I am scratching my head for almost a month now to make it share over the Wi-Fi. Eventhough I have made enabled in the Admin Page from USB Sharing to Web Sharing, I am unable to open any files through ftp. Please guide me how you have done that and if possible, please mail me the details at [email protected].
Thanks.

I want to one thing. can any user of Micromax MMX 400R tell me after checking whether the device works if connected with charge adapter but the battery is removed?

Hi

Am interested if the deal, as you promise, is great. Couldn't PM you for some reason. Please reply to [email protected]

I've had it with this product, works well but just so unfriendly. If anyone in Bangalore wants to buy it from me, please send me a PM. I'll give you a great deal.

Tried it. It doesn't. Hope that helps.

Hello everyone,First of all a big thank you to all the participants in this thread, your discussions have helped me understand a lot about MiFi data cards. After reading a lot i have narrowed down my choice of MiFi data cards to 2. Micromax 400r and Huawei E560. The main differences between the two are -1. Display - micromax has led indicators; huawei had an oled display screen.2. Battery - micromax claims around 4 hrs; huawei claims 5 hrs.3. Price - micromas is avaiable for Rs. 2495 (somebody also bought it for Rs. 2100); huawei is for Rs. 4000.I dont want to give too much importance to the price difference, since its a one time purchase i dont want cost to be the deciding factor. Battery also is almost same. Display definitely is a major deciding factor. So i have a few queries of my own, which will help me decide which one to go for.1. Most important - between micromax and huawei which has a better after sales service. (Data cards are normally not prone to mal-functioning but if i am an unlucky customer, i want to know that between the two, who i will be better off dealing with)2. This is common to both the products - lets say the battery doesn't have much charge and i want to use the net urgently, can i connect it to the wall mount charger for charging and use the net over wi-fi simultaneously? Thanks in advance.

You can find micromax service center even in small cities, Huawei I dont think so!

Yes you can, I am using the same way...I put on charge when I use over Wifi.

I hope this help!

Yes it didn't work without battery.. Strange!

Yup it helped. You can do it with Novatel mifi. So I am thinking of buying one of those.

Thank you iCon, the info you shared definitely helped a lot. Specially regarding the second query. So now i know that i can use it like a normal modem all day by putting on charging, which makes it even more user friendly!About the first query i wasn't very clear what i was looking for. I am from delhi and i have service centres of both micromax and Huawei not very far from where i stay. What i really wanted to know was how is their service, for eg are they helpful or they try to cheat, their technical know how etc. Basically which is more trustworthy.
