Microsoft acquiring Nokia (Devices and Services Divisions)

Xbox Mobile!!?? NO NO
I guess we could get "Microsoft Lumia XYZ" phone in future. Tablets could have "Surface" brand.
Its better if they keep Xbox for games and other multimedia offering.
 
lol. surface as a brand has become a massive failure. microsoft is using xbox for their music service these days. so it makes more sense as their Lifestyle brand.
though yeah. surface phone makes more sense than a xbox phone.
Right now i am waiting for Nokia 2520 to fail. Not sure what Nokia was thinking. Who the hell wants a RT Tablet?
 
Surface Phone or Lumia Phone, it still sounds better. But we may miss Nokia's innovations on that phone :)

Thankfully Microsoft has promised to keep the name short. But then... It's Microsoft.
I do not think Microsoft has rights to the Lumia branding as well. So it is also going to change.
lol. Nokia is the only company making windows phone devices. so basically lumia would be microsoft's iPhone.
 
I have not heard of any new model coming from Samsung or HTC. I remember seeing one model of Samsung when WP8 was revealed. HTC also has not released any new model in the recent months.And I do not this situation changing in the near future. ZTE etc might continue to bring cheaper WP models but overall the market has become a single player only.
 
Yes, thats true HTC and Samsung actually launched WP8 phones when WP8 was announced (even before Nokia announced). But in last few months only Nokia is announcing new models for WP8. Exception is Huawei W2 announced recently which is non-Nokia WP.

Thayil said that issues such as phasing out the Asha series phone or replacing its operating system (OS) with Microsoft's OS were under review.

Phasing out Asha Platform phones would be as stupid as Blackberry focusing on the consumer market. Why fuck with something that is not at all broken?
