it might end up coming out on in-car entertainment systems as well. considering it feature big buttons and layout optimized for touch displays. another market where google android is sadly missing out on.

The Full Win8 (non RT) version of the Surface is supposedly coming out 3-4 months after the RT... so Jan 2013 I guess.

Yeah, they are already touting it as a full ultrabook class machine in a tablet form factor, so I'm guessing it will sell in the range of $ 1000 - 1200 /- and even that is not too bad really. The ONLY major negative thing I can think of at the moment, is the RT screen should have been full HD not just HD and the full Win8 Surface model should have had a really high-res display somewhat like the iPad3.

are they optimizing the number of tiles based on screen resolution? all the screenshots i have seen shows the same outlook. tiles becomes larger from what i see. (yet to install it on my 2560x1600 PoS).

And by the way, I for one will be definitely itching to buy either an RT or the full Surface ASAP :DPS: FYI: The ARM CPU based RT version is called just "Surface" and the full x86 (intel core i5) Win8 version is called the "Surface Pro".Apparently for the RT version you can only install (Metro?) apps from the Store while the Pro is a full intel ultrabook laptop style/capable device so you can install legacy Windows software too.

yeap. rt edition can only run metro apps. and only from the windows store.which is going to become it's biggest shortcoming... these apps are not really designed to be used on a tablet that doubles up as a laptop. :Din any case, we would have revenues of surface coming out by next week!

I'm not sure if they are scaling it but looks like yes, because I have Win8 running on my desktop and laptop with 1920x1200 and 1280x800, and it seems they do.
