It will take atleast year or 2 to see impact of deal .. May be now we can see more wp7 handset as they are the only one who don't own hardware co.

Interesting thing is Google is entering into Product market (where they have to compete with NOT just Apple, RIM and MS-Nokia, but also with Samsung/HTC/LG)...AND...Apple, on the other hand, is entering into Service market (iCloud) and they will directly compete with Google & MS services. Picture will be more clear when we have Win8 and Next generation OSX (XI?). (Apple no longer call it Mac OSX).

is this same deal where Apple is trying to acquire T-Mobile or some other operator .. they have huge cash pile ...

AT&T is in the process of acquiring T-Mobile USA.

Apple could go ahead and acquire any of the three players (AT&T/Sprint/Verizon). They do have the cash. And almost all of their products now rely on mobile internet. So, it is pretty obvious that they would want to enter this particular market to complete their ecosystem.

^ Buying Sprint is one thing, buying companies like VZ and ATT is another :D VZ and ATT have yearly revenues in excess of a 100 billion USD, buying out such a company is almost impossible

Ah well. They can buy a smaller player? Or launch their own MVNO as most people had original anticipated.

why would Apple buy a carrier? what's the rationale? There is rumour...Apple is working on sim-less phone..a carrier independent phone.
