MTNL 3G on iPhone 4 - Settings & Performance

I got a call from a person regarding my complaint about low 3G speed (only 0.4 Mbps). He asked me which handset do I use. When I told him that i use iPhone 4, he said iPhone 4 cannot go faster than that. Now thats news to me. He said he will check and get back to me again regarding the issue.

Just confirmed. MTNL is secretly capping HSDPA speeds to 384 kbps or 0.4 mbps. When I am roaming in BSNL 3G network, I still get same speed. But if I use BSNL sim, I get 2 mbps speeds on same network. Jeez. Planning to cut my sim card when balance is over. I don't even want to go through the hassle of porting my number.

is there any way of activating HSDPA . I am ready to pay them Rs. 449 for activation of hsdpa. I have Rs. 550 balance. When I send the SMS ACT HSDPA to 444, nothing happens.No balance is reduced by Rs. 449 and nor I get high speeds nor I get 449MB data for 1 month. call centers are not knowing HSDPA. Now in this scenrio , they have launched Rs. 1650/Rs. 4500 data coupons with 200GB talking about 3.6mbps speeds. What to do to activate HSDPA?

HELLO EVERYONE.
thanks to this thread i have finally managed to activate hsdpa on my iPhone 4. infact before this thread i didnt even know that the hsdpa option existed on mtnl. my speed on 3g was always 0.25 Mbps. managed to call up mr gaikwad and he activated it for me. i managed to get it activated and the speed for just some time was 2 mbps but since the last 2 days the speed does not increase beyond 0.2 mbps

this is getting me very frustrated and i am beggining to wonder if the apn , usernames and passwords is correct

i am from mumbai circle and the mtnl hsdpa PREPAID settings are as follows :-

APN ; gprsppsmum
username : mtnl
password : mtnl123

what other reason could there be for this sudden drop in performance ? i am sure hsdpa is activated because 499 was cut from my balance

You need to maintain a balance of Rs. 25 always after activating HSDPA... Kindly check
