my isp just verifies the mac address and the pppoe password and username, I've set it all properly using the ZyXEL script, main issue is that the wan interface is just not recognizing the pon cable, which btw works perfectly with my current setup of optilink single port no wifi onu and my TP-Link a6v3 flashed with openwrt, but I wanted to replace all that jank with this airtel premium ont.

how can I get the router to accept the wan.

hmmm, so my normal ont works properly and aot doesn't, can you confirm that pon cable shows a light or not when you unplug it and point it towards a wall, easier to see it in a dark room, and yeah I tried inserting the cable properly as proper as it can be, also my ont and pon cable are blue colored, and my aot port is green colored, if it helps

the main issue is now, why is my pon cable not getting recognzed by the aot, pppoe should in theory still be possible.

Yeah, you're trying to insert a UPC cable into an APC port so that's resulting in some power loss and if the power is already on the lower side, it could cause the optical signal to be not detected at all or to be in the unusable range.

yup found about this myself also, was about to message but felt too dumb, my current ont shows these numbers for the pon connection.

Tx Power2.307311 dBm
Rx Power-23.010300 dBm
Bias Current14.354000 mA

The connection must be getting very bad so it just doesn't detect anything at all.
