well windows phone do not allow sideloading of apps like android does. that is definitely a headache. though they do allow you to join a program by paying 9 dollars i think to get that ability. this program is largely aimed at developers though.

So for a windows machine, u need to buy a genuine Windows for it! :D

Nope , no such checks :P I have a few friends who are developing for WP7. They seem to love the development environment though i am a noob at it..

There are loads of free apps on the store ! I checked at the store.... every app i want is ther for free... at max they have a small bar of advertisements which is ok.

----------

I have been using an Android phone till now and just didn't see the need why i would want to sideload ? When you have an appstore on the phone why would you want to sideload ?

Emulators ? Microsoft allows them in the app store !!

^^^^U must have read Chromaniac's comments! I just go overboard many times, while getting sarcastic on Microsoft! :D Its my favorite target of sarcasm!

installing apps outside the app store. android allows you to download apk files from anywhere and install them like you would install on windows/linux/mac/windows-mobile/symbian. Apple ios and windows phone block it.

Then i think that still can come handy at times. Although i havent tried going much away from the Android market.....but u still need that freedom.

By not allowing sideloading of apps, microsoft (and Apple) ensure that apps run as per their minimum performance standards, which is quite necessary. Otherwise Installing through the market is the easiest way to install apps anyways.

these "minimum performance standards" also allow them to stifle competition and apps that do not conform to their arbitrarily drawn guidelines.

The only thing that i dont like about MS is - it wants to charge u just for everything. If they want, they wud file a patent lawsuit on u, just for using its name in ur posts.---------------Edited out even before posting------------------------------Wud like to see something different than that, in WP!
