Not getting SMS on my number on VoWiFi

For last few days, I have not been able to receive any otp/msgs on my Jio number when connected to wifi
I start receiving messages when I turn on mobile data, whether airtel or Jio.
mobile model is Samsung S23+
restarting doesn't help ,
mobile balance is there.
Its like on wifi sms fully stops , on mobile data its back.

Do you have WiFi calling enabled?
I have S23+ with Airtel and Jio SIM. My phone is connected to Jio Fiber WiFi full day. But I never faced SMS issue. I have disabled WiFi calling.

yes it was enabled
have disabled it now
also jio support told me to set smsc no to 1234
dont know what is that.

This is a long running issue with both iOS and android since the beginning of VoWiFi or WiFi-Calling. There's nothing you can do, just disable WiFi calling and you should be able to receive SMS.

Sms on ios with airtel VoWifi works absolutely fine,the issue is only with incoming sms that too when the mobile network is not available at all.

For me also incoming sms were the problem outgoing use to work fine on ios.

I've noticed this issue with both Airtel and Jio when used on VoWiFi since years, sometimes this also resulted in "unreachable" status for incoming calls also. But outgoing was all fine so what i used to do is just dial 198 and disconnect call within 1-2seconds, that somehow i think refreshed the VoWifi connection with the mobile tower database or their server (i could be horribly wrong but layman explanation) and everything works fine again, For like 3-4 hours.


edit: I don't have iPhone, i've faced this issue with moto, Redmi, LG g8x, samsung s20 fe 5g and multiple ISPs

yeah can confirm used to have that issue on both jio and airtel for me as well. Is it that the ios doesn't allow incoming sms via wifi calling?

@Gaurav_add it works perfectly fine,the only issue is that when u have no service/no mobile coverage and only wifi calling is available,than u cannot receive sms,i have raised this issue with airtel chief operating officer,that is state head and they have identified the issue and told me that they need to change equipments and this issue is present in whole of india and not only in my circle.

@crymetyme I sharing my experience based on vowifi being used on airplane mode. Yeah i thought this was a bigger issue as you said they have to change equipments to enable it not gonna happen soon tho we have to live with it.
