anyone planning to get this model... do not make the mistake.

this is a low end model made by an indian company manufactured by a chinese manufacturer.

What do you have against Indian companies?
Secondly, everything is made by Chinese manufacturers. The NI ADAM is being manufactured by the same Taiwanese firm that makes Apple products - Foxconn.

what do i have against indian companies? most of them do not have local R&D divisions. you buy this model, you are probably going to remain stuck with the same android build that it comes with. google does not approve current generation android tablets. it is better to go for devices from major players like samsung. because they are more likely to provide updates in the future. android is being developed at a rapid pace... new versions are released after like every six months.

2.3 launches on December 6. Notion Ink will have it.Besides they have developed a completely different UI layer called Eden optimised for the 10.1 screen size. It has got an NVidia Tegra 2. But the best thing is the Pixel Qi screen, which converts it into an e-book reader by switching off the lcd backlight.Their founder is an IIT-ian. Most of the programmers are IIT-ians. The investor is Mukesh Ambani (oh yeah, Mukesh 'Deep Pockets' Ambani). It is a Bangalore based company. What local R&D? I am not saying it's the best thing to happen. But you can't write something off that is so specs-heavy on paper. At least wait for a few gadget sites to come up with some hands-on.Samsung Galaxy tab? Overpriced is an understatement.

6th December is another big day for Android and you will find out how fast Notion Ink can work. (Eden is extremely compatible with 2.3)

sounds good enough. but i would still stay away from a company that has little ground presence. no matter who their investors are.

anyways. here is a generalized answer.

android is not ready for tablets.

none of the apps available on the android market is optimized for a large screen display.

that might change with android 2.3... but most sources say that android 3.0 would be the version that would be optimized for tablets and netbooks.

until google announces official support for bigger display devices, spending money on an android tablet could turn out to be a mistake.

Notion Ink might have a better idea. Their blog post suggests that 2.3 is likely to be a huge update (support for large screen devices?). I can only assume that they have more knowledge about Android 2.3 than most of us.

Applications on Adam enjoy just more than a boost in processing power. The allocated application memory is also high, and you will not find Force Closure Exception because of “out-of-memory” issues. This was a big step in converting your Android to a tablet version OS (and one of the updates coming in 3.0).

looks like 2.3 is not optimized for tablets. anyways. best of luck to them. i have been hearing about them for a long time now. would be good to see how this model performs whenever it goes on sale here.

The thing is they've got a tremendous buzz online without spending a single penny. All this couldn't have happened if the product wasn't good. Check out their blog. People are having orgasms.

All this couldn't have happened if the product wasn't good.

so how many people who are having orgasms have actually used one?

their hardware specification looks pretty nice. of course, the screenshots of their customized apps are also nice. from what i remember, engadget is mightly impressed by them.

that does not guarantee a successful product. here in india, they are unlikely to sell a lot of units. for them to survive the threat from bigger players (Apple, samsung are already there... htc, rim, motorola would join the league next year), they would need considerable numbers.

the specification they are offering right now would be sort of normal for tablets in a couple of months. android smartphones would soon feature dual core processors with dedicated GPUs for example...

from what i see, the only solid approach would be to get acquired by a bigger company for their technical expertise and mmm IP (!).

btw have they even revealed the pricing for the indian market? i could not locate it on their website. anything above 35K would be a disaster. the US price is i believe less than 500 dollars.

Absolutely.
But being the founder and admin here your opinion influences many, many others. It's one of those with great power comes great responsibility things.
