wow ... 90 hrs recording with reduced bit rate, that too under already overcompressed channels..... too cool:cool2:

:@I said this after recording & watching 2/3 movies & other prg.
I liked it. And for me quality is not bad at all.
I was also worried about the quality, as i mentioned in my previous post on this thread.
For me its very cool:cool2:

:urock:for Tata Sky+

pookri,

///// don't find any logic is there, if you know some thing about processors and decoders.

I didn't see Tata Sky+ can receive MPEG4 as they haven't claimed that it will receive mpeg4. ////

Tata Sky + is indeed MPEG4 compatible.

Told by Vikram Kaushik in an interview long back.

Please see here Tata Sky+ gears up for Airtel, BIG TV- Buzz18 Entertainment

I think they will have both MPEG2 and MPEG4 decoders.

This is an excellent way to plan for transformation to MPEG4. By slowly increasing Tata Sky+ boxes and reducing Tata Sky regular boxes, They are actually making the consumers pay for their technology switch overs..

I hope this clarifies,

As per the manual there is no mention about receiving MPEG4 channels. If possible please check and clarify me as I saw only online version of the manual. I may have missed specifications page.

Tata Sky + has MPEG 4 technology and also PVR which has recently doubled its capacity.

If you open the sticky thread in this section, you will get to see the pics of the Tata Sky DTH+ Box...on the front panel, on the right side you will see big bold letters saying "MPEG 4" Nothing much to prove there...but just thought you shud know. ITs just MPG4 compatible" for cross platform sakes as the MPEG4 broadcasters had put a case against Tata Sky DTH roadblocking their PVR launch, as DTH License clause mandates a cross platform compatibilty and Tata Sky DTH and DishTV boxes are not MPEG 4 compliant

Tata Sky DTH and DishTV boxes are not MPEG 4 compliant

Did you mean only Tata Sky and DishTV boxes or is it the actual transmission thats not compliant.

May be the original HD capacity was 90 and they were giving 45 hrs and now after updating the software they are giving 90 hrs

it is because earlier Tata Sky recording was on Mpeg2 and now on Mpeg4. Due to the high compression the recording was doubled now.

The new STB's are much more advanced. Tata Sky+ was always MPEG4 transmission compatible and now it is recording too hence it will have higher capacity.

Didn't understand your comment....??
