Well, i too think that Mtnl has started blocking the dns addresses:O. Will wait for some more days and give a fitting reply to them.

If this is true then it's typical 'dog in the manger' attitude of the powers that be .:hysterical:

Open DNS is working fine and Socrates you don't need to add the Open DNS ip's in your router.I am using the D-Link 502t modem.

In my firmware ver (which D-Link claims to be latest), see screen dump in post #3 of this thread I have to select 'Use user discovered DNS server only' or else it will take the DNS entry from MTNL server irrespective of what I have on my computer. :)

@krish_88: What was the problem? I'm too afraid to change my settings again as I was totally screwed up the last time I did.

As i am using the bridged mode. I also need to configure the dialer as well, i.e. I have just entered the opendns addresses in the PPPOPE dialer. Thats it :)

Dont you have the option 'DNS selection entry' as seen in the screenshot. Because if you keep the 'DNS selection entry' as 'Use user discovered DNS server only' then either you keep the modem entries blank so it will take the entries from the computer or keep it same as that on the computer. If you keep the 'DNS selection entry' as 'Use auto discovered DNS server only' then what ever you add in the modem it will take the entries from the the MTNL servers.
