No grinning matter for Congress: What Rahul Gandhi should learn from repeated defeats - The Economic Times

On Friday, Rahul Gandhi emerged for a press briefing to accept blame for the Congress' worst ever showing in Lok Sabha elections — just 44 seats out of 543, and 11 less than the number required to be considered as the leading opposition party in parliament. His speech was brief.
The only catch was that, throughout his short bhashan, and afterwards as he stood by his mother Sonia Gandhi, who also spoke, Rahul wore a broad grin. It was as if he was celebrating victory, not mourning Congress' biggest rout in history.

Congress president Sonia Gandhi and her deputy Rahul Gandhi may offer to resign from the positions at a Congress Working Committee (CWC) meeting scheduled for Monday, owning up the moral responsibility for the party's drubbing at the Lok Sabha polls, party sources said. But, any such offers will be primarily aimed at preempting possible blame-games within the party, and in all likelihood the CWC will unanimously appeal to the Gandhis to withdraw their resignations, people familiar with the way the party works said.
