The Airtel guys suggests me to shift to postpaid in order to get static ipv4. Also I should purchase additional 4 Airtel 4g simcards and then I will be eligible to get a Static IP. I don't know what to do in this situation.
3. Again I am telling you. Hosting an email server at home isn't a good idea, especially when ISPs don't support adding custom PTRs.
So static IP or not, it's just not worth it.
4. The airtel guy is lying, you don't need to buy additional SIMs, but the postpaid requirement is true to some extent due to the way billing is implemented for static IPs.
i am too lazy to explain all the reasons on why selfhosting email (especially at home) is a bad idea.
Checkout this blog post. Is Gmail killing independent email?
I run the same setup. Adguard Home on raspberry pi 5 and tailscale.
PiVPN w/ Wireguard is too hard to configure for IPv6. I spent an entire day and it was a waste of time whereas with tailscale i was up within 10mins.
You probably don't need a static ip and the self-hosted mail server. I did plan to host a mail server but it is a pain to do. You have to take care of it. Getting blocked, Preventing spam and a lot of things. The blog post is a nice read.
Yes, I went through the blog post and it seems setting up mail server is made difficult as the behemoth has the throne to set the rules. I have Pi-Hole and Tailscale up which works fine with both IPv4 and IPv6 until the IPv6 changes.
I have set static IPv4 and IPv6 of my server on NokiaONT G-2425G-A router as DNS.
Whenever the server which has PiHole running gets rebooted due to power surge, IPv6 changes and hence Tailscale fails to work. I have to change the static IPv6 on router and restart DNS resolver on pi-hole to make it work again.
Is there any way here to make it work? Do I have to disable IPv6 addressing on Airtel router?
Also setting up PiHole as DHCP server has been a nightmare as it works for a while but if anything happens to the server it cuts the connection totally.
