Hi frndz...I have BSNL broadband conn on Win xp. Few days back my modem got busted due to a lightning strike. So got a new modem (UT300R2U) from BSNL.Now when I try to connect it to my laptop through LAN, the modem doesn't get detected!!! On my desktop, it works absolutely fine!I've checked my laptop with another connection from a neighbour. It worked perfectly. Is there any drivers I need to install for this modem?:SKindly respond at the earliest.Regards,John.

my laptop through LAN, the modem doesn't get detected!
Since you could access internet with same modem settings
with a desktop
1:( In modem enable DHCP and give range 192.168.1.3 to 192.168.1.10)

2.In Desktop
Start Network LAN properties
TCp/IP
properties.
Note down the settings.
Usually
192.168.1.3
255.255.255.0
192.168.1.1

3. dns ( as entered )
or opendns
208.67.220.220
and 208.67.222.222
Apply Save.
4.
Now in laptop check the same settings.
Access modem
In IE 192.168.1.1 admin admin

5 Check diagnostics.
6.Confirm How you connect
(a)"DiALER MODE(PPPOE)
OR(b) ""ALWAYS oN"(PPP/PPPoE)

Feedback.

Essbebe-I agree Info1 seems to contradict Info3. But this is what happened. Its quite bizarre to say the least. When the modem was initially not detected I thought maybe the LAN port is corrupted. Hence I checked it at a frnd's house & used their LAN config settings & it worked fine!I use 1 desktop & 1 laptop. They are not connected. I work independently on both. the reason I brought desktop into the picture is because internet works perfectly on it while the laptop cannot seem to detect the modem at all!!After I made the changes you mentioned on step6&7, I was still unable to access modem page through IE.

I did Step10 as you mentioned & this is what I get

You can seen I've disabled Connection 3 & Cisco connection says connected, but I'm still unable to access modem page. Also the PC/USB LED is still not glowing on the modem.
