Problems with Airtel

Ok here are the facts :

I dial a number. Either (a) or (b) occurs. The feasibility of (c) happening is remote.

a) The phone shows as dialing, then reverts to standby menu.

b) The phone dials, on the screen Connecting is displayed and nothing happens. It just stays like that. After a min or so, it reverts to standby screen.

c) Its my lucky day and the call gets connected.

This has been happening since the night of Jan 10th 2008 (that night i switched to Airtel). I contacted the CC but they are at loss of what is happening. They blame my phone. Help me out.


Certain facts to be considered :

1) The phone displays full signal strength.
2) The nearest Airtel tower is at a stone's throw from my premises, yet my phone picks up another tower (which is present atleast 2 kms away)
3) Tried the SIM on three different phones of mine, no change in the scenario.

dude!! It might be a SIM problem ...why dont u try someone else Airtel SIM on ur phone, actually one of my frnds in kerala had the same probs..hez from AYUR(kollam)..he tried his SIM on 2 or 3 phones but it was the same and no one in his area had any problems with network...then he then tried his frnds sim(airtel) and it was working well...U try it and see....Might work for u as wellWell, To b honest airtel services r pathetic in kerala although their offers r great compared to Delhi...:thumbsup:..

Yea, Airtel services are pathetic. But this happens to be corporate connection, and i am left with no choice (Ok i admit i ditched my Vodafone Corporate for this mess ). Hmm lemme wait for another month before changing the sim. Thanks for the input

@cool techi tvmwhich cell phone are u now using ? There is some problem in Samsung cell phone. I ve seen in my friends cell phone having similar problem. he is having samsung... if u have samsung i think it might be the case, otherwise its the problem with Airtel

Another problem guys. Am unable to send pictures messages on STD level. Am able to send picture messages to any mobile in Kerala. But if i send the same to any number on STD level, it doesnt reach the recipient, but they (airtel) take care to charge me accordingly. Again they blame my phone. They are asking me to try sending the picture message from any Nokia phone

Hey dude i noticed something wid Vodafone, whenver i dial some STD number with +91 code Vodafone always shows "network busy", but if i dial the same number with 0 then im able to connect, same is happening with STD sms too.....why dont u check it, use 0 instead of +91:thumbsup:

dude!! U r talking abt picture msgs na...!! r u sending msgs to Samsung mobile??coz picture msgs from Nokia and Sony Ericsson doesnt get delivered in Samsung and vice versa too....

Nopes, i send picture msgs from my SE to a Nokia. Previously when i was on Vodafone and BSNL Cellone, this used to work flawlessly. So its definitely Airtel related problem. My colleagues who are on the same plan, are able to send pic msgs without any problems. Some of them use SE too and it works flawlessly for them.
