what a terrible day. i managed to mess up ubuntu install on dad's machine trying to fix the touchpad and brightness problem. thought about installing linux mint on it. downloaded the ISO from the web. took an hour. tried installing it. damn installer did not work. would not accept keyboard input. went back to ubuntu 10.04. realized that on a brand new ubuntu installation, chrome does not install because of dependency issues. had to run the update that fixed the problem.
hehe. if you end up with ubuntu keep me posted. in any case keep us posted. try linux mint if it works for you. i have no idea about elementary os though.
