Problem: After setting up a new connection as a backup, I noticed I couldn't access server apps from my Macbook M1. Interestingly, everything worked fine when I switched to mobile data. So, I started troubleshooting.BigBabyTantrum's Solution:
Common (Incorrect) Approach:
- Use only IPv4 (on both router and device).
- Add an IPv4 exception in the router's firewall.
- Restart the router.
The Correct (Better) Solution:
- Set both your device and router to use IPv4 default settings.
- Reroute IPv6 on both your device and router.
- Create firewall exceptions for trusted sites and protocols only.
- Restart the router.
