"I cant tell if Reliance has affiliation to some political party"

I hope this 5 Gig makes buzz and other majors like ACT, Excitel etc at least start providing 1 Gig plans or make existing gig plans cheaper. No hopes from Airtel & tata to do the same. Imagine 12k for 1 Gbps plan without FUP for 1 year? 😁

5gbps plan over airfiber is very tricky, probably they are testing market for high speed data requirement and if there is then they will come up with xgs pon. Today if you consider it is just another hype for IPO as airfiber at 5gbps is not scalable. Data rates can fall but at high speeds and fup is there to stay for long

Airfiber at 100mbps cant be scaled to what reliance wants (100M users)

let alone 5gbps connections, unless they are doing something which we dont know yet

I think 1 gig is going to remain the ceiling for quite some time.

1. 2.5,5 and 10Gbe ont costs many times more and demand is unlikely to justify bulk orders.

2.FUP remains a barrier.3.3TB is ridiculously low and can’t justify even 500 Mbps let alone multi gig.Our baniya led telecom sector will only respond to government orders like that mandating 3.3TB.Else not very long ago in this decade I remember paying a small fortune for 40mbps 300GB FUP.The late 2020 leap in quality was all thanks to COVID induced WFH and government reading the telecom sector the riot act.

The telecom sector has since done nothing to move things forward on the FTTH space.

For plans above 500mbps FUP should be 10-20TB

3. No real clarity on 6Ghz.Since 99% consumption is via Wi-Fi we need WiFi7 with 6Ghz band to truly enjoy multi gig broadband. As of now nothing is available.

Enough of this but we give free OTT therefore we are giving the best value broadband connection in the world nonsense.Broadband in India is an embarrassment compared to countries like Thailand to say nothing of Europe.

Unfortunately and I hope I am wrong but nothing will happen without a COVID scale crisis.

3.3TB needs to go
