The UP government recently put a stop to separate retail stores (Reliance Fresh, Subhiksha etc.) and allowed them to operate only from malls. It was supposedly done to save farmers. But farmers' groups themselves came out in support of such stores coz, for the first time, they were getting value for their produce.Traders' lobbies have always had a stranglehold on retail trade in India. Cheating farmers on one side and consumers on the other, things have been quite rosy for them over the years. They never mind mixing stones in rice and god knows what in the chilli powder. Branded products and superstores will result in a serious loss of business for crooks. Only those who offer good service and quality products will survive. But it is always simpler to poke someone else in the eye rather than clean up one's own act. So, why will such crooks not be against retail stores? And why will politicians not support them?Reliance should start bribing politicians left and right and get things done.

^ agreed.reliance along with other retail stores should try to bring out more outlets.consumers and farmers both will be benefited.
