router status light goes stable, internet stops working

For the last couple of days i keep getting this weird problem on my HP vista notebook, whenever i turn on my system the internet works fine for some time and then suddenly the status light on the router goes stable n my internet stops working (its suppose to blink uniformly when working correctly). The ethernet light also goes solid after sometime showing no exchange of data. The power light n xDSL light stay solid as they should.This happens every 5-10 minutes and is really irritating. Although the OS shows that access to the internet is avialable.The only way around this problem is to turn the router power off. The funny thing is the fact that the router works fine when i connect it to my desktop PC running windows XP n the problem is limited to my hp vista notebook. I've been using the MTNL triband adsl connection (its the 256kbps unlimited usage package) since may 2007... never had this problem before.The internet used to work perfectly on my notebook before n this problem has suddenly surface for the last couple of days anyone know what the problem is??? Its a HP Vista Home Premium (32 bit) notebookthe Router has the Model NO:- UT 304R2 (doesnt have the company name on it, just the MTNL logo of the green telephone)i use an ethernet cable this problem doesnt occur on my desktop pc running windows XP any help will be appreciated

well, why dont u try and reinstall ur Ethernet drivers and then check again, maybe this has to do something with the drivers.

see if your Ethernet has power saving mode ON (check property of device). if yes, disable it, else wait .... for other solutions!

well the problem doesnt seem to occur anymore... didnt do anything it just fixed itself

same here. was facing similar problem, gone now. maybe some glitch at the MTNL end.
