Not sure why this is a bad deal. If they can offer 4.3 quickly, it's even better than getting 4.2 and then wait longer for 4.3. Anyways, 4.2 was largely a disappointment because it messed up Project Butter for me. :

Yes, I saw that but haven't been able to download the update OTA yet. Don't want to update via Keis, so waiting for it to come through.
I am a recent owner of the Note 2 and while I was looking forward to the 4.2.2 update, Samsung moving on directly to the 4.3 version seems a good move. Otherwise 4.3 would have been available by the time they released 4.2.2 and they would have had to go through the whole TouchWiz integration once again. So jumping directly to 4.3 seems a good move. Just that we will have to wait till the year end for it to be available, considering that Note 3 will release (presumably) in Oct 2013.
