I am using my Note 2 for more than a month now and I dont find the need to root it. The bloatware is an issue if it slows down the phone or eats up battery. Both issues are not there in Note 2. There is no lag no matter what one is doing on the phone and battery life is excellent.
I did root my previous phones namely HTC Sensation and HTC Desire. That was because HTC stopped official upgrades. But Note 2 'may' get Android 4.3 (fingers crossed). So until there is a final word on this issue from Samsung, I wont root my phone.
As DNA_Uncut has suggested you could just root the phone thereby getting all its benefits and still continue using the stock ROM.
Note 2 probably will get Android 5.0 too

and i agree with what you have posted, and i have never rooted my Galaxy ace also; guess I am too scared to do it :|

^ That is very old news about Android 5. Last I know is that Samsung is skipping 4.2.2 in favour of 4.3. But it wont materialize before Nov because that wont want to compromise Note 3 sales which is launching in less than an hour from now. Moreover next version of Android is going to be 4.4 Kitkat, not 5.0 Key Lime Pie. Lets see what actually happens.
Dont be scared of rooting. XDA has detailed guides to do it. I rooted my previous 2 phones and installed custom ROM's. But I havent felt the need to do so with Note 2. Later on when Samsung stops official updates, I will root it and flash custom ROM's.

Yes it is. I'm on Pacman on the Note II. Very very smooth. I cannot go back to TW ever

^^ Btw the new touchwiz on leaked 4.3 for note 2 is noticeably smoother. I may go back to it. It's actually pretty stable too. You just need to ignore the Touchwiz bloat.
