I think 8 cores is perfectly fine. Its not like they would drain the battery. mostly phone functions on 4 cores but if certain applications need extra cores, they're available. Also this would mean future readiness..knowing that this phone would be relevant for atleast coming 4 years. Hell ..even SII is selling like hotcakes, let alone S3 after all this time

Agree, usage of cores depends the apps & other connectivities. The same applies to all the dual & quad phones, so as battery issuedrain. Since S4 have 8 cores, I predict there would be more power sucking stock apps pre-loaded in the phone. Let's wait for the decent detailed review
Rugged Build phones have been around since Moto Defy days. I don't understand wat has been samsung still watching. They also posponed the flexi screen technology to their future models. They might launch it with Titan to get attention.
And about tizen or any other os multiboot. Not won't be possible in samsung phones. If you love experimenting. Get the Nokia N9 or wait for sailfish phones ...
i think samsung or any other company is smart enough to make sure battery lasts long with innovation (they fail sometimes i agree) but the goal is actually to make it last longer with new os ,apps, features, which also suck more powers sometimes.
rugged phone by motorola since defy??? still it died ?? didnt it?? ...............innovation is the key , not durability , ppl these days change phones like .....clothes??? bad example but yeah you get it .

India would get the non LTE version I assume. Which processor does that version have?
Unless of course Reliance and Airtel are in talks with Samsung for a version that would be compatible with their tech?
India will probably get Exynos Octa core version similar to last time when U.S. got dual core and here we got quad core versions of S3

similar hardware? much better processor. much better display. and do not forget, Sony would probably launch 4-5 more flagship models in the next 12 months. s4 would remain samsung's primary offering for at least 10 months.
This is my biggest dilemma. S4, Xperia Z or HTC one
None of them comes out a clear winner.
Xperia Z I have heard has some issues with viewing angles...

The problem buying any gadget is that if you wait you can get a better one. But you need to stop at some point and decide to buy one. The tough part is to identify it!

yeah. people love it when their phone breaks into millions of piece when it falls down. good excuse to buy a new phone.

US got the dual core version because it was the SoC that had LTE on board. Quad Core chipset did not support LTE back then. I think.

Sony is using an LCD display so it is indeed inferior to competing devices. From what I see, you get S4 if you want the fastest phone and do not care about build material as much. You buy Sony if you want a less bloaty Android and water/dust resistance. You buy HTC One if you want the best display in the market. :)
