I dont think so that will happen as India in technology we are moving foward and they will not scrap this cas system and that too the government cannot do that just for chennai city. I really doubt on this. As asdfgf pointed out earlier message that we thought that this will happen but its been 4 years that still CAS is running succesfully in Chennai city.
 
I agree with u ...But the TN govt plan to provide all the channels for the people.That's why SUN has changed it's way from cable to DTH service.Also the STB on the beginning is 3500+TAX...now it's become free.so we can positively expect all the channels with a little hike in charges that is acceptable by all,instead of paying 350 for DTH per month.

In Tambaram local channel TCP gives advertisement like this ''Don't confuse about free STB,we'll come back with right choice and Be patient''
 
I think TCP will make some difference about STB within 10 days...That ad tells ''Nowadays you see the ad 'the price of STB is come down and free.So you think about that' We'll come up with right choice within one week and be patient''That means TCP will move from SCV
 
[SOURCE : PAPER] Hathway Begin The Cable Service at 90's for Cable Operators who can provide the channels for the people at monthly rate for viewing all the channels,at that time nearly 98% of the Cable service is provided by Hathway.In 97-98 period SCV came dominated the TN & chennai city & obtained 95 % Operators to take connection from them.Then came STB where it was 4399+tax.Hathway reduced the rates then SCV reduced.Now STB is Free in Hathway also SCV stated STB are free.So the Cable operators planned to move on Hathway again.So we can get the channels again...
 

Ask your local cable operator,if you have SCV connection you can get the SCV STB from your operator. You will find the add on TV [SURYAN FM].

You will get a STB free + 350 Rs chargeable deposit with every connection. Pay Channel @ Rs.5.
