Hi,Can anyone please help me how can i share my triband connection with another computer of mine?I connected a cable to the ethernet port in the router and other pc, but it still doesn't works. I suppose it should work on other comp without the need to enter user name and pass.So Please helpThanks in advance :)

Did you connect both PC's to the same router via LAN?Does ur router also work as a switch?Or is the first Comp connected via USB and the second via LAN?explain the config, coz its highly unlikely for normal PC's or MTNL supplied routers to have two LAN ports

First of all my router is UT 304R2 and it has 4 ethernet ports.

This is how i've connected:

- My current PC has a cat5 cable's one end connected to my lan card and other to the router. Which is how im connectd to internet
- I connected another cat5 cable to 2nd ethernet slot in the router and it's other end to my other pc's lan card.
- Additionally, i have another cat5 cable which has connected my LAN. both ends connected to sepereate lan cards on both the PCs.

So now pls help me :)

EDIT:

Maybe this can explain you better

Here is the router:

And here are the two cables i've connected. One goes to my comp which i'm currently using and am connected with, other goes to my other comp with which i want to share the internet.:

I also have two more lan cards on both of my comp (which means i have 2 lan cards on each of my comp) which connects both through LAN.

Maybe now someone can help me :)

Since u have 2 Ports on the Routerhave you configured the LAN settings on the LAN's of Both PC with differing IP'sMay be the IP's are conflicting?ROUTER-192.168.1.1PC1-192.168.1.2PC2-192.168.1.3Also I dunno about the router Interface..............MAYBE just maybe the second to forth LANs have to be activated on the router or something...I dunno

My Ip is : 192.168.1.3Ip on my other comp is: 192.168.1.4Where can i check the ip of the router?I also tried to use the username/pass .. but it obviously din't work since im already connected with it on this comp. And i'm sure when MTNL mentions on their website that yes, we can share our internet with our PCs on the network, they don't mean us to have a different username/pass for all of them (which actually means a seperate connection for each comp, lol)Any help would be much appreciated:)

The Routers default IP address is always : 192.168.1.1/255.255.255.0can you Ping 192.168.1.1 from the second PC that cant get connected? Also It is mentioned on MTNL site that u can share the connection between Computers by using a switch to connect all PC's and the switch to connect to router. Why not look at the Manual of ur router I'm sure It has step wise directions to use it as a switch cum router

The manual just gives a tutorial of connecting one comp, not other comps on the network :(But yes, when i ping 192.168.1.1 from the 2nd pc .. it do gets reply. Now what should i do to make this damn thing working ? :/

well if the router just give connection steps for one PC,
then your connection is right, coz both PC's have diffrent IP's on the LAN

Now since you cant Ping router from second PC,there are 2 possibilities......

[*]Firewall or Antivirus is blocking acces to Router on second PC (Very Likely)
[*]The second PC requires a Crossover Lan Cable or maybe a straight Cable(very Unlikely)
Suggestion,

[*]interchange the LAN cables of the 2 PC's and that will let u know whether the cable is at fault
[*]Turn Off Firewall/Antivirus and try to ping Router from second PC,so U can find out if those programs are at fault
no no, i said i "can" ping the router from my 2nd pc.However, now i'm using jana proxy server to share my internet with my 2nd pc. Is it fine to use it?I know it must be an easy way to share internet without using proxy servers, but since i couldn't figure out i'm using it.So just let me know if using proxy server is safe and legal. :)

No probs with using a proxy server.......Privacy and Security are higher with those things..i can't seem to find the manual for ur model on the net or a tutorial on how to set up the 4 PC's on the 4 Lan slots :(
