Should get new modem?

Hi all, I am using MTNL provided D-Link DSL-502T modem eversince I bought my broadband connection. I am sure MTNL might be now providing newer versions of the same company or completely new modems of (better?) companies. Being out of touch with MTNL BB for sometime, can someone from Mumbai esp. from Borivali/Kandivali update me with what Modems are available with MTNL and if they are worth going for i.e pros/cons. I have no problem with my present 502T modem but if the newer ones are better in some particular way(which is why this thread to be updated how), then I might as well get a new one. Updates?

the latest is sterlite sam300ax... it works fine.....and yes u can change ur modem for free.... u need to complain to da mtnl people dat ur router is not workin properly or any other prob....

Especially now that they are having some 'compatibility issues' with D-Link modems. :hysterical:

DSL modems face frequent disconnections i hav heard..sum kind of firewall issue..its better to change...

Has anyone changed recently and wish he hadn't. I mean hope the newer modems are not smarter to limit speeds as per MTNL's wishes or be more restrictive? What abt bridge, router modes, NAT, FIrewalls, speeds etc?

Guys just to update, I went to kandivali MTNL and asked for the latest router but they declined that they only give new modems to New orders and existing customers will get old modems. Is this right? can I force them to give me latest modems?2. I got UT-300R2U T-KD 318-EUI (white color) from them. It this a good one? Can anyone point me to its latest firware upgrade. The current firmware version is ADSL Firmware Version: E.37.5.3 .I am facing terrific connectivity issue and I overheard MTNL guys taking about some cable damage thingy so this is definately not a D-Link specific issue as the same problem exists even after UT-300R2U modem use. The ADSL lights comes and goes at every blink of the eye....randomly. Spoke to DGM office. Lets see.Please reply to above.
