N70 is a proper smartphone!! I had once compared what iPhone cant do and my N70 can do!! Ofcourse it wud be from my perspective and my requirements. But yes I agree, Android might be a better OS and once u switch to it, you might not want to go back. But technology keeps upgrading, that is why I am thinking of switching (even when N70 is still sufficient for me), as its been almost 4yrs now.

I am now thinking of switching to Sony Ericsson Xperia Mini instead Motorola Fire XT... same price but:

Pros:
1) 1000Mhz with Qualcomm snap dragon instead of 800Mhz
2) aGPS instead of just GPS
3) Scratch resistant screen
4) HSUPA (upload 2.1mbps) (Motorola does not mention this)
5) HD video recording
6) Face / smile detection
7) Sony bravia display engin
8) Sony ericsson promised upgrade to Ice Cream Sandwich Android in a year

Cons:
1) Just 3in instead of 3.5 in
2) 4.5 hrs talktime instead of 8hrs
3) No front camera, no video calling
4) Not many bluetooth profiles

----------

My only problem with Sony Xperia mini is... it supports only Bluetooth A2DP and does not support DUN... does it mean that i wont be able to use internet via bluetooth?

2nd question is... on their website, its mentioned that under connectivity that "Modem - GSM internet dial-up support"
Xperia Mini Specifications

Now if its written GSM does that mean that I will get GSM speed and not HSDPA in PC/Laptop?

----------

Update: Here is answer to my above questions. I can use mobile as Wi-Fi hotspot.. no need of outdated bluetooth connection! :D
Xperia Mini Support

yup you are right @ operamaniac. I used to have a feature phone exactly a month back from now. I did custom rom'ed it and was happy about it performance and features. recently bought an andriod smartphone. i realised what i has been missing in my life. Initially smartphone took few days time to capture my eye. but once i figured out what can be done with a smartphone, now it rocks my world. cant imagine anything without it. m happy i took it dis time of the year and m pretty impressed by its performance, feature the its tasking capabilities and lots of other things that will be coming its way.

amish, I told you to go with the xperia. :pofcourse you can use hsdpa. The phone can support download speeds of upto 7.2 mbps and upload of 5.76 mbps. What that link means is that the modem in the phone can connect to gsm networks and not cdma. It does not mean that you will be restricted to edge speeds. And yes, you will discover needs, that you may never have had.

Hehe my mind is wavering!! Now I have found other upcoming phone.

Live with Walkman™ | Android phone - Sony Ericsson

This phone is same as Xperia mini but few things missing and few new things. (when compared to Xperia Mini)

New things:
1) Front camera
2) Video calling
3) Photo light / photo flash
4) Stereo speakers
5) Handwriting recognition
6) Slightly bigger screen 3.2inch instead of 3inch
7) 14hrs of 2G talktime compared to 5hrs in Xperia mini. But I wonder when both have 1200mAh battey how can talktime be so different.

Missing things:
1) Bravia engine
2) Four corner icons are fixed
3) Timescape integration

Here is official comparison table from SE:
Compare - Products - Sony Ericsson

I am hoping that new and missing things neutralize the price difference and this phone will cost almost same price as Xperia mini

PS: Actually Sony Ericsson is coming up with lots of phones, hopefully by Diwali.

Since I am in no hurry I thought I will wait one more month for more choice! I know new mobiles will keep coming but I am waiting because currently I dont find a phone matching my requirements and I see new phones are more likely to match the requirements, so I thought "better wait!"

Haha, was that a taunt?!! :DBut yes waiting for the phone.

yes :D I have had 4 days of gruesome experience with the stick .....ref: MTNL 3G jadoo :D

I did not go through the entire thread. But I feel one should have both stick + mobile.
A good 7.2 mbps /5.6 mbps (down/up)USB GSM data USB stick( Huawei/ZTE) is available for maximum Rs 1800 (branded ) with all 3G operators and Huawei E173 (unlocked ) is even available @ rs 1425 in Itgadgets.com. Alcaltel 7.2 ,bps stick can also be had below Rs 1700.
Your search/choice for a decent Android phone around is ok. But using phone for usb tethered browsing in PC for long hours will harm the expensive phone.
Data card below Rs 2000 can take any punishment. I do use my Android (Nexus-S) for browsing in my Notebook for up to 3-4 hours.
But I do have Voda 3570Z (3.6mbps) + Huawei E1750c (Aircel) 7.2 mbps cards .(all with 3G sims and unlocked):bashful:
