Slow speed on BSNL Fiber

Mine is 72Mbps as well, If I use a custom rom I get 150mbps link speed. Xiaomi has disabled channel bonding on the stock rom. Still faster than my internet speed.

Right now I get close to 60Mbps on LAN. Wifi gets me the same speed only on ADM with multiple connections and the settings suggested by Tenet, chrome downloads are less than 2MB/s. Same on other phones as well.

And what about Channel Width, 20 or 40 Mhz? 20 Mhz(me). Although distance from router also matters and Channel (11 me) used. I am in the same room as the ONT/Router and the PC and a Samsung phone (in another room) are 72 Mbps, Nvidia Shield and Nexus 6 is 144 Mbps.

@Adithya Right now I have Lineage OS on my phone but speed should not get affected much due to channel bonding. Try using a higher numbered channel.

@sloj Tried 20 and 40 and auto (my phone picks 40), I tried all the recommended channels for 2.4ghz (1,6 and 11). Chrome downloads barely goes above 2MB/s.

For wifi especially 2.4Ghz, try this

1. ping to your wifi AP/router (continuous ping "ping -t 'IP' ")
2. do a speed test or download some files.
3. check if there is a spike in the ping started at step 1

If the spike is above 100ms, and you have tried everything (channels band/ width and nothing works), the AP is not able to process that much amount of data. Even if it shows 72mbps or 144mbps for devices.

Best bet, switch to 5Ghz or a high-quality AP

@sloj 20 Mhz and channel Auto. I am not facing any issue since i did the settings for encryption type. Speeds vary during peak/non-peak hours but that’s fine . The major issue was that any device connected over wifi would never get more than 25Mbps (speedtest,fast.com) . Now i am getting same speeds over LAN and wifi i.e upto max of 50-60Mbps with a spike upto 90-95Mbps while doing speedtest .(My plan was 777-50Mbps).

You can set it to 11 or even 13 or if auto chooses higher channel then everything is fine I guess. Yup, speed does get affected during peak/non-peak hrs but not by much and not always. At the end of the day if everything is working fine then no need to change anything.

@Tenet @sloj My problem's fixed. I changed wifi type from B/G/N to just G/N. Now I'm able to get my full speed on WiFi since today morning.

@Xtinction Here's all I did to fix mine thanks to your thread.
1. Change WiFi security type to WPA2 mixed: WPA on TKIP, WPA2 on AES.
2. Set firewall to high (vsol firmwares can do weird things, just do it)
3. Changed WiFi type to 802.11 G/N

PS: If it still didn't fix it, go to sleep, wakeup tomorrow morning and see if it fixed itself. I haven't done anything else.

@Adithya Mine is B+G+N . Lets see if BSNL upgrades plan speeds/fup limit in response to jio/airtel in near future, will then have to check if those speeds are supported. My guess is that they should atleast provide 100Mbps in 777 plan with fup of 1.5to 2TB or else reduce prices. Jio/Airtel symmetric upload/download at 100Mbps with 3.3/3TB fup per month under 1k (post taxes) is too tempting.

Ikr, my only issue will be we've just installed this line, there are no other LCO's and they probably doesn't have Jio, it's a rural place. Waiting for BSNL.
