Solved: Laptop 50-60k | Macbook Air M1

This is primarily for work from home. Work doesn't require any intensive computing power as such. But I'd love to carry it to cafes.

Requirements:

• Durable
• Lightweight
• Decent battery backup
• 14”
• Not a fan of antiglare screens

I was thinking about using it for video processing occasionally (1080p, basic editing with color grading at max). And I actually was considering getting an M1 MacBook, but then I'm not sure if I wanna use it for day to day work.

Err I never even opened the MacBook charger since I had already this and it seemed to charge okay so I didn’t bother.

I have actually stopped tracking the battery health, but this is interesting. Also, after 50 cycles it shows 97% remaining in system preference.

I am getting really low charging speeds using Spigen 70 W GaN charger.

@manu1991 Did you come across any such issues?

Not that I can remember. I didn't check the exact values but the charging time was similar to another 45w charger I had.

Have you tried any alternate cable?

Looks like a cable issue to me.

The device is simply being moody. Tried the official brick from the MacBook pro, and it was charging at around 33 Watts.

Tried my own (Spigen) charger again, it then started working fine. I mean.

Does macos have any auto optimised charging type option? Maybe it's switching to lower wattages based on factors like battery temperature etc

But it should kick in once the charge reaches 80%.

Just an update.

I am getting about 7.5 hours of screen usage when I charge my laptop to 92% and the battery drops to 29%.

I feel that it's less (not sure) considering majority of my time is spent doing research on Safari, document processing, occasional Photoshop usage, WhatsApp, Telegram and Slack running at the background.
