Its kinda surprising that the later movies were done by George Lucas himself.

So. Episode 6 ended. Luke and Leia are siblings. I remember reading about this. Had forgotten until now. Darth Vader turns into a good guy at the end . The emperor is dead. The story appears to be finished. What are they doing in Episode 7?

You do need to realize that lot of better quality sci-fi movies/series got made "after" the series began. So, being the first (or among the first) to have so much CGI and battles and stuff was an undue advantage. It sort of kick started an era of that kind of movies.

No. It's not that. I totally got it. The movie has tons of plots and subplots which have been used and misused by sci-fi movies and television shows in the past couple of decades. So, I can see how much influence it has on this genre considering it created this genre. It's pretty incredible actually. Personally, I was disappointed with 2001: A Space Odyssey but again, it was extraordinary in a sense that it was shot in 1960s! I guess it is just hard to appreciate stuff like this. Just like kids of today would never get the coolness of stuff that was cool in the 80s and 90s.
