there are no moving parts. that's why they are speedy. on a regular hdd. the spindle has to access different parts of the drive mechanically which adds the lag and results in wear and tear.
When would the HDD prices come down to last years level?It has almost been an year since the thailand flood and still the HDD cost is twice it was earlier. I am begining to wonder whether the prices would come back down at all. Since the SSD entered the market, has the HDD manufactures decided to get the maximum profit for their products.

That's the truth. They even reduced the warranty period.
