I'm from pune and am currently using BSNL broadband(2 Mbps/2.5gb/500p.m). My current connection is working perfectly but since Bsnl don't provide any unlimited plans for 1/2 Mbps, I want to change my connection. Along with changing the connection I also want to set up WiFi at home. I have narrowed down my choices to reliance and tata. Tata has given me all the info (rates,compression ratio,static/dynamic IP,etc.)Now about Reliance; I checked the website and there wasn't adequate info available(only rates nothing else);I called the customer and all the representative told me was that there are two types of reliance broadband available, one is completely wired with a modem (same like a BSNL,which i already knew) and the other once uses some kind of antenna on top of my building, which i don't know anything about (neither did that person explain it to me cause he himself didn't know anything about it).Now i'll come to the point of creating this thread. 1. Can someone enlighten me on this second type of reliance broadband and which one is better. 2. If someone already has reliance WiFi, Can that person give me their feedback.3. Any suggestions on WiFi will be accepted.4. since I'm confused over which ISP to choose(tata or reliance) can anybody from pune tell me about the connection(stability and all the things you can share except the rates) and the customer services from both reliance and Tata.note: I want information only for the unlimited plans of minimum 1Mbps Looking forward for some help. :)

BSNL provides Unlimited plan of 1/2 mbps i.e. 512 kbpsPlan: Home UL 1350 and Home UL 1350+

i went to their office and checked, they didn't have any unlimited plans over 512 Kbps

cant help you with the rest, but the broadband with the antenna on your roof is most probably WLL, better use wired unless you really need WLL, as wireless usually causes more problems than wired..

I think he meant 1 OR 2 Mbps and not 1/2 Mbps :)

thanks. I'll wait for a few days for the feedbacks on the wireless and the wired one. most probably ill go for the wired one.

@ajab yes I meant 1Mbps or 2Mbps.

I think you mean WiMax rather than WiFi - 2 different technologies.If you want to have WiFi at home (as in, use 2 computers with the same connection wirelessly), then I think you're also supposedly required to let the ISP know as well. It's another one of those stupid TRAI things.WiMax, well, I've not heard much about Reliance or Tatas Wimax offerings in Pune - but in Mumbai I've not heard too many positive things about them. I guess it depends on your distance and line of sight to the tower (but since Reliance and Tata own most of the international cables, in theory, their international bandwidth shouldn't be too much of an issue).

sorry if sound rude,but when i say WiFi i think I know what WiFi is. As for the Wimax part it's reviews are horrible for reliance and yes the IP's i'm thinking of applying for know that i want a WiFi router.

Never ever go for WiMax internet of Reliance, Its pathetic !

Hey man, no offense intended. Just checking - some people here seem to use certain terms interchangeably, including WiMax/WiFi and kbps/kBps :)

You'd still have to (theoretically) register your use of a WiFi router with the ISP... supposedly it's required for the ISP to keep their license (as per the TRAI license agreement). Yes, I know its bollocks, but, no-one ever said the government is sane :)

You're not the only person I've heard that from. I hear Tata is better for WiMax, but I haven't confirmed that.
