10 years back the cost of a low quality VCR was Rs.10,000.

Now Rs.10,000 for a HD STB seems costlier.

Ok U say 10000 is cheaper ? ridiculous...
Man, I agree to what u said vcr cost 10000 when launched and was costlier, but later the prices came down and everyone started to buy it. now HD STB is costlier for sure, but few years from now, we would see rates coming down to below 5000. :thumb:

@tomthomas: Why don't you get samsung stb.if you are in kerala and have good contacts with the distributor ,I guess it is not tough to get a replacement.moreover ,it comes with proper software unlike coship and homecast STB's.and big dth offers component video out and a spdif out(audio) with model-2 STB.pictures are clearer than other dth's too.

No offense to your great work, but I want to remind you that DTH operators are providing signals for private use, and it cannot be used to re-transmit the video.
Also about your statement above, the recordings we do in STB are also for personal use, and has lots of commercial restrictions due to which they are not allowed to extract from STB to any external storage device.

I have seen videos uploaded by you, they are in great quality, but I wanted to know what is benefit (financial) you get in doing this task? You certainly may be utlising lots of internet bandwidth apart from expense on DTH & other setup needed.
Ofcourse many Indians staying abroad are grateful to people like you for providing Indian content on web, but while watching this videos above question always comes in my mind

I think he got revenue from the adv. I clikc on the google adv every time while download some content from his website.:dance::dance:

I too expect that the price would come down in a couple of years.

Prakash,
I live in Bangalore, and now I do not want to spend again on DTH except for HD, since I hardly switch on SUN DTH after I upgraded my Tata Sky to SKY+ when they introduced it some time in 2008. Anyway I was the only one in the family interested in that extra mallu channels:( My kids are extremely pleased with Sky+ PVR capabilities which they extensively use. Even I prefer its video and found PVR quite useful.

I renewed the subscription of SUN after a couple of months gap to retain the relationship for some more time, praying SUN will be better one day.
Regard,
Tomy

Why are we discussing price here? HD is only for rich and its is clear. People like me cant efford a HD now. This is only a choice for the people who can efford it, simple

are these newly declared HD channels are showing ad/break free?if it is then its quite ok...still 100rs per channel is more..

Most of the TV Tuner cards in the market capture the TV witn very good quality and all have setting to capture the video in DVD quality 720X576 with or without compression.I was using low end Ezview mercury card which could capture video in top class quality in meg format without xVid compression and the size use to be around 140 to 180MB for a regular tamil song. After compression using video converter for same DVD setting at 1200 bit rate, the size in avi format will be around 30 to 40MB but with same quality. You see the videos posted in HQ Tamil video site made in the same way. Most of the TV tunder cards in the market have more or less the same good quality...as DTH receprion is good ,the video is of very good quality.Especially the Tamil and Malayalm channels of SUN and Asianet in addition to Amrutha TV are very good..also SUN channels in Telugu and Kannada are also very good in video quality. When sound is considered,Amrutha has very good sound quality though it is mono

I like to get one clarification. All these tuner cards input is connected to STB output right? In many cases either S-Video or composite video? Video looks good in a small screen but once you connect to a large full HD TV (40" or above) the video may show its true qaulity. right?
