Technicolor (Formerly Thomson) makes some great quality set-top-boxes. I am a Tata Sky customer since Feb, 2007. Never had any issues with Thomson stb. If I remember correctly old one was Made in India, this one is made in Vietnam.

I read this http://www.broadcom.com/press/release.php?id=s774670. I don't think broadcom has any connections with technicolor, does it?

MPEG4 exchange offer is not limited to South India customers. Exchange is happening all over India. They are replacing it for free only for those who have Kannada, Malayalam, Tamil or Telugu add on packs.
If you are in Delhi and if you have any of the regional packs mentioned above, you will also get your MPEG2 box replaced with MPEG4 box for free.
If you don't want to wait for free upgrade, you can upgrade anytime by paying certain amount. Or add one of the above regional packs and get it replaced for free

After couple of days, send the SMS Y to 56633. They will create a work order and replace your MPEG2 with MPEG4 box.

I have Malayalam and Tamil pack..But I was asked to pay 900 for MPEG-4 box.
