For example the lady complains, the police come & check the camera (Maybe the lady can exaggerate) & if they find the photo is inappropriate to be take as a general photo (again their view) , they may simply harass the guy..
Let me tell you an incident (from a decade ago, and you may favour the girl maybe). My cousin was called in to a police station as his name was given as a person known by a friend to help get released who has been booked under eve teasing. So, he went with another friend and had him released.
My cousin was shocked because this guy is a very decent guy (with no bad habits, and religious kind). The guys' story - At a bus stop at 10-11 PM, a girl in jeans was trying to talking to someone over phone and also waiting for bus). This guy unwantedly commented that its not appropriate to be dressed like this and be so late alone etc. The girl basically said mind your business. The guy then started giving a lecture about how women should behave & I am telling for your good etc. This lady started shouting and screaming & that ofcourse attracted the cops, who promptly took him away and booked him under eve teasing...

lol. bhalai ka zamana nahi raha. reminds me of a funny incident. i prefer to wear shorts in summers. and since i am six feet tall... the shorts are well shorts. so one day i was riding a bike in the sadar bazaar area of gurgaon. the roads are crowded so you pretty much drag your bike through the traffic. a sardar jee stopped me told me that i should not wear shorts in public, it's not a good thing to do. i was like whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaat?

I don't know what the confusion is

Appropriate or not you cannot take photos without permission, govt or state can

The point is whether the target objects /complain or not, if the target is not aware of photo being taken or doesn't have issues it's fine.

If target doesn't permit than you can't even take a normal appropriate photo even

To Be fair, the lecture was uncalled for.

She obviously can misinterpret this as a way to talk to her and also harass/tease her in public, why should she be lectured? She is doing what she thinks is good for her

The guy was at fault

reminds of the video where the girl slaps the guy in the bus when he touches her during a hard brake. the guy slaps her back when she ends up touching him when the bus brakes next time.

Like I said viewpoints vary, and I agree the guy should have stopped after "mind your own business". But I was just pointing out that a similar situation may arise if a girl goes and tells cop that I spotted a guy taking my photograph (10 feet distance or whatever)

I guess we have reached a stage where we do not even tell our friends what is the right thing to do. We have become distant and uncaring. And then they are surprised on why people do not help others when they need help like in case of accident and similar cases.

Yes she can complain about being photograph from even 1 kilometer, if she came to know about this.

It's her right, she cannot be photographed against her will....... As simple as that

Right, but on the other hand

What did you expect from the girl being lectured?

Ok bhaiya /saiyan....... Sorry, dobara nahin karungi?

Chalo ab mujhe ghar tak chod do, darr lag raha hai aapki baat sunke aankh Khul gayi?

Lol

What law applies if someone complains that I photographed him/her against his/her will from a significant distance?
