Somebody broke the rear right door glass of my car. I'm making a police complain, but is there anything insurance company can do and should they be involved?

Yes, no reason why it shouldn't be covered in insurance

I think they will need a police complaint copy, not sure if they will insist on FIR on it, police will be reluctant for that

Keep in mind though that if you have a No Claim Bonus, you will lose that, the cost of the glass might be less than the NCB discount
 
Don't have NCB. Had to make a claim in the last six months. It was the windshield which would cost 5-6k. With the claim I paid 1.6k as the file charge which took care of it.

Spoke to the workshop and the cost for the door side glass is 1.2 to 1.6k. And the guy suggested against the claim as I'd be paying the same amount as the file charge.

@Tejas01 I kind of know who did it, my parents are suggesting against filing a police complain.
