i dont think its a bug-with-a-performance-penalty like AMD's . i think penryn just changed the behaviour of the TLB which requires OSes to cope, but no performance penalties... but i could be wrong... right now my purchase will likely be a quad core penryn desktop cpu around april...
yorkfield's had some errata,but nothing serious and rumours about fsb integrity problems.
but its worth pointing out that wolfdales and penryn's are immune from this problem.so chances are the problem has very little to do with the chip itself..
im now reading online that intel also might have 45nm process problems and has delayed launching quad-core desktop parts. plus availability is low for their quadcore cpus.
