Reliance is behind the ban. They are blocking these services to prevent privacy of Singham.

Now, who wants to go and pay for this movie?

Yes to prevent the piracy.. It's a shit movie and remake of tamil movie.. Whats the production cost of that movie? 500 Crores or 1000 crores? Blocking file sharing sites doesn't make any sense... If they want to curb the piracy they should probably concentrate on the people who upload such stuff and sue them.
 
the article states that the order is designed in such a manner that ISPs can find themselves in trouble if they are found to be involved in the piracy of the movie. considering it would be impossible for them to monitor all downloads from these file sharing sites, they have blocked access to all! :D
 
So they are gonna unblock these sites after movie is getting flopped and goes off the theater right? :D
 
hehe. i imagine that the ban might remain for a couple of days if not weeks. so that reliance can get their happiness.

if the story is true, i would imagine that torrent trackers would be the next to get blocked. i would imagine that downloading a cam copy would be easier on torrents than on these file sharing services?

Yes, they would also be blocked bcoz the blocking would be done at a higher level in the chain. Actually to explain it further check the following article:

All this trouble because of the thieving torrent freaks, if they would only wait for a few weeks, this Singham or whatever would be available for viewing on the many free streaming sites.
