I have been fearing it for so long. And it has finally arrived.

Any tips appreciated. And if there is a definitive diagnostic test for it.

Local doctor asked me to get a hearing test after a few days. Gave steroids (🤮) for the time being. What does a hearing test mean?

Was in the situation like you in 2017 on diwali after bursting cracker there was continuous buzzing sound in my one of ear. Thought it would go away till morning but no it continues for 3 days. I was going mad because of its continued buzzing 24hrs. Went to local doc told the story, he immediately declared nerv damge and told the only option is operation.
He referred to an ent specialist in Gurugram, went there he did some hearing test with 2 equipments(one was like metal ball and he is tapping my head with it and other was like U shaped metal with a stick and I have to confirm that I heard little vibration in it or not)
And I can hear all the little vibration.
He told nothing is serious to worry about. It will go away itself. He advised me to distract myself from concentrating on the sound by listening to song or watch movie.

hopefully it was not that doctor who is infamous for impossible to get an appointment for lol. i always forget his name. though i guess he is a general physician and not an ent guy.

Remembered the name. Dr Prabhat Goel. He seems to be a general physician.

I guess I am going to visit KK Handa at Medanta. Know no one else.

it is hard to describe what i am feeling. it's like a throbbing sound. like my ears are picking up the sound of breathing. it could very well not be tinnitus. the ent guy i went to didn't do any test. just checked the ears for any physical damage. cleaned out the wax. gave meds (including a steroid i believe) and told me to come after five days if it continues for the hearing test.

if i block my ear using a finger or just push the ear's outer body against it... it seems to stop. that's basically how i managed to get to sleep last night by blocking the ear with my pillow.
