Ok. i have tried setting vlan id 1910 to both pppoe and the bridge mode in my router and only the bridge mode works with 1910 vlan id.
Anyway i am checking what you said.

You need to tag only the LAN connection, not the PPPoE. The pppoe will work over that tagged LAN connection.

Edit:- sorry, what router are you talking about?

sorry for delay. I was checking it. It is showing error 651 when connecting pppoe. I meant by router that i had tested it first on router whether its pppoe will accept it or not.

Can you tell me which protocols to use in pppoe

Oh, I see.

Regarding the protocols in pppoe? errr... pppoe is a protocol in itself, please explain more where is it asking for it?

Also, when you hookup your D-Link to the alcatel, are you able to go online?

I am saying about security protocols like pap, chap, ms-chap v2, eap ,etc. I am able to go online when i hook up D-Link router with alcatel with vlan id = 0. I have tried setting up router in bridge mode and then trying pppoe but it is also showing error 651

Ok, the pppoe dialer's security tab, I assume it has check boxes? Under "allow these protocols", all to be checked except use windows logon

A few more questions from my end:

1. What exactly is your objective/mission by setting up PPPoE on your laptop (curiosity based question ;) )
2. You are hooking up the laptop to the same port as the D-Link is hooked up, by unplugging the dlink first, yes?

Answer to 2nd one :
Yes by unplugging D-Link first.
Answer to 1st one :
I want to see if i can achieve more speed on my laptop.
