i read sumwhere tht trai was interested in IPv6 and so since tht has heavier bw requirements.. the might have to reduce tariffs.. just assuming actually so indiretcly tht wud mean isp's wud reduce prices or offer unlimited.. i doubt mtnl wants to go lower than 200 bucks  anyways .. i heard they were finalising sumthing in dec.. so may be .. just may be - a nice new years gift?

i remember when last time i posted a probs with regards 2 trojan probs i was told by hkbwarez tht it was not relevant 2 this forum & was eventually moved 2 d computers & internet forum. why then is this post still existing in this forum & not moved out??????

hmm yes.. these psts arent of much use to anyone.. anyways.. change the topic.. i was trying to get the discussion started again!

I would worry about that now days.... there are enough script kiddies on irc and other places with botnets running around to make good this threat.. ive faced this problem before ... one of my company's sites was taken offline for nearly 4-5 hrs for days on end and eventually we had to shift our co-location to a stronger provider because of continual ddos...
I would tread on the side of caution on this threat...

DDoS my a$$ Script kiddies are easy to catch and they have to find holes and use exploits which are specific to this server. Plus if there was any truth in his threat then this website would be experiencing downtime by now ;)

duh... actually that guy is still trying to get registered to this forum. i had to switch to manual approval for new registration so that he does not get authenticated without me approving it. just approved 2 new users. hopefully, he is not one of them.as for ddosing this server. my server guy is not exactly very professional. but if he is online and something like that happens, he would handle it well... i am just going to shorten the time between my weekly backups to be prepared for anything bad :)

WHy bother with ddos ?What about an exploit for Invision Power Board(Trial) v2.0.0 !!Finding that depends on how networked and determined he is.Only way to protect from this is to have regular backups and running upto date software. Legal protection is pretty much useless, unless you have the bucks to pursue this in court. One site i was on, got taken down this way, ironically it happened to be a forum for live CDs, which are used for... you guessed it.... restoring crashed machines.

well that is a major problem. i cant legally upgrade this forum. and i still find no decent enough reasons to pay for the next stable release of IPB. if something bad happens i will buy the upgrade.

This is what i was afraid about :(Hence the post...Why wait for something to happen...quick everyone bug him...

i have a personal opinion that the latest versions of IPB are even more bloated than the current edition! who wants formatting toolbar here on the quick reply box!
