Ubuntu 10.04 aka The Lucid Lynx launched!

I've been running the lynx for a few weeks now (since the alphas) and it has been awesome!

Fresh new look/themes, including Plymouth bootup coolness.

Lots of stability and feature fixes, latest OpenOffice, Firefox etc

Ubuntu One (storage), Ubuntu Software Center, Ubuntu One Music Store you name it...

i thought it did not come with openoffice in the default installation?

i have been waiting to check it out. could not install the beta as i did not have a burnable CD. and it would install using Wubi i extracted from the ISO.

Wow...The boot screen is good...looks like it is really fastAre they going to introduce Aero features in this...??Do you find it stable...compared to 9.10..??

aero? that is a windows only thing. linux has compiz.

No...There has been buzz saying that Aero will be the surprise feature in one of the versions this year....Since 10.04 is too near I think 10.10 might have it not at all sure...Will try and find a link about that news....Also 10.04 will be releasing on April 29th...I will waiting for Mint to come out with their version...They have 3-4 new features in their version as well

Hmmm...I thought the Aero is something related to Transparency....And This is what ubuntu is planning....Along with many other surprises....

yes, AERO is a microsoft coined term and copied in linux... and yes, 10.04 is way better than 9.10 already - both the GNOME and KDE versions

Vishal can you tel a little more about Music Store. Does the store only have GPL music or can we buy copyright music as well.
Is that Sun Rise bootup screen one of the default themes for the bootup screen or did you download it seperatly. or better did you make it?

You can get Aero like interface in ubuntu through embral theme manager.

Guys I have a question? (Sorry I know its not related to this topic, please bear with me)

I have 64 bit Ubuntu installed on my laptop through Wubi in Windows 7. On full charge 6 cell battery gives me about 2.50 Min with Powersaver mode on Ubuntu 64 bit. Where as on windows it gives me around ~3:20 min. Thats 30 min! Any idea why the difference? and what I can do to correct it?
