Hello, I have a Chinese ONT (does not have brand name, web UI just says SMART HOME GATEWAY) which supports bridge mode. But I'm unable to get it working with my TP-Link router. Here are the steps I followed:

  1. My ONT is having IP 192.168.1.x, TP-Link has 10.0.0.x IP series and connected to LAN 4 of the ONT. I changed the mode to bridge mode on ONT. Screenshot
  2. Navigate to TP-Link admin page and clone the MAC of the ONT.
  3. Change the connection type to PPOE and entered the username and password like this. (Screenshot of advanced settings)
  4. The TP-Link ppoe page is stuck in connecting stage. These are the logs from the TP-link router -

likely the ONT does not actually support bridge mode. You also have vlan tagging on, ensure that is correct.
Don't bother cloning MAC; just ask your ISP to reset the filter.

disable dhcp server but first take a note of your credentials
I have disabled the DHCP option in ONT.

The ONT UI has an option to set it as bridge. I don't know about the VLAN config.

Still the ppoe is in connecting status

My ISP is BSNL. If I revert the config and enable the route mode instead of bridge mode in the ONT it successfully connects to the internet. The links status is also pretty good.

With some of the Chinese onts you just need to delete all the WAN configs including where your pppoe details are specified and by default it goes into bridge mode.
