Unable to get bridge mode working on a Chinese ONT

I don't think you need to configure VLAN.
The VLAN in ONT is not for Ethernet frames.

VLAN option is normally under the same page. What other options are there in bridge type in ONT?

Yes, this is what I did earlier.

I tried to copy the VLAN info from ONT to my router but it didn't work. Here are the info:

Tp-link PPOE config
Tp-link VLAN config
ONT connection

But the PPOE is stuck in connecting state, here is the route logs

I need to look for a new ONT I guess. This model from TP-Link looks good but I couldn't find it online and in retail

It's a GPON only model. Are you sure your connection is GPON? Even then there is locks applied so that users don't change ONT by themselves.
There are MAC or other kinds of locks so that might be an issue with your current device. Only your LCO or ISP might be able to tell you that.

@jefff no need of multicast VLAN if you don't have IPTV, disable VLAN in the TP-Link Router, your ONU will handle the Internet VLAN. Disable DHCP in ONT(DHCP Transparent in Internet settings), and then try.
