i think airtel iptv is currently available in limited areas in delhi ncr region.

i guess mumbai would be the next target. it requires good quality wiring as 8mbps data transfer is required.

----------

as for availability.... do not worry about that aspect.

i have 2 iptv connections at my place. one of them is here since february.

i still get a call from airtel call center EVERYDAY at around 9:30AM asking me to get the IPTV connection.

it is so darn irritating that i know the call is from airtel when the phone rings.

i pick it up and directly say, if u want to sell me IPTV, i am not interested.

lmao admin subscribe to do not call.

well i usually do not have the instrument connected with the telephone line. that sounds like a better method.

Hey admin, you have the iptv right?how is the setup, like what all they install and is the iptv through the internet cable itself?

1499 plan has 512k day time 1mbps night time.

1899 (or 1799 i dont remember) has 1mbps full time.

iptv is real good value for money as you pay just around 220 rupees for it.

that would be great for everyone

but the problem with airtel is they dont want IPTV in regions apart from delhi and NCR regions!!!

when i enquired airtel ppl i was shocked when they said IPTV wasnt available
and i argued with them after seeing few posts here in the forum

but after many calls one airtel cc person told its available only in delhi and NCR region

they say it will be soon available in other metros since start of 2008 i guess

:madness::wall:

duh. you are missing the point here. airtel iptv needs wiring to be in real good quality because it requires data transmission above 8 mbps. i bet if airtel had a way to provide it in the entire country, they would do it right away just like DTH. iptv is a wired service unlike DTH which is wireless. they must be working on enhancing the quality of their wiring in other metros. so it would probably be expanded in the future. do consider the fact that iptv is a great way to enhance ARPU for telecom companies. it would become more popular eventually.

@adminI chked that out but i wanted what did you mean by,"airtel iptv needs wiring to be in real good quality because it requires data transmission above 8 mbps."If it needs 8mbps then it would have to HD.Cause our normal standard definition 480p that is available in india needs about 2mbps,you can stream Full HD 1080p on 8mbps.So are you getting an HD stream. One more thing I wanted to know is Airtel broadband and Airtel IPTV's main wiring the same,if so i could use the iptv wire to get 8mbps of data.

well iptv guys set around 6mbps for IPTV data. i am not sure how much of it is actually used. and iptv stb is connected to your broadband router just like you connect a computer to it. and iptv is not broadcast through the 'internet' so no, you cannot use that to get 8mbps internet connectivity.
